Do you know the amazingly simple and easy way to cook cheap? The answer is so shockingly simple that Im surprised everybody does not do this. All you really need to know to cook cheap is that the savings is in your pantry and cupboards.
Really, Im not kidding!
Here is why. Get your ingredients for cheap meals for pennies by using double coupons and buying when on sale. The only thing you need to do is this to save over 72% on the cost of your meals when you cook from your pantry. Really, just this one piece of knowledge is all you need to cut the cost of feeding your family by hundreds of dollars a month.
So, how do you really save this much? Simple, get as many grocery discount coupons as you can find and do not forget to use them. Buy extra when the price is low and try to buy products that do not spoil easily.
This is what you need to do:
Always buy your ingredients both with a double grocery coupon and on special. Scan the sales circulars first, find coupons to match, and then go shopping for groceries. Most importantly, you should always have a coupon or double coupon for every item you buy.
Make sure to buy combinations of fresh foods, frozen foods, and canned foods. Try this strategey to avoid waste: use the fresh items first, the frozen second and save the canned for last. Always keep some canned meats like salmon, and chicken in the cupboards for sandwich fillings and casseroles.
Never pay full price. If you run out of something, use something else. Substitutions are your friend!
Pay attention to staples for cooking and keep them on hand. Do not forget that staples do not just mean flour and the like; a staple can be anything you use often. We always have canned soups, yeast, canned pineapple and plenty of spices around. Paying attention to not wasting what you have will save a lot of money.
